French Black Lagoon Carignan Reserve 13.5%
This superb wine is made from a special parcel of old bush vines, some 90-100 years old, just outside the village of Nezignan l’Eveque, Languedoc. Large, pudding-shaped stones, similar to those in the vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape, create their own microclimate, using the sunshine to warm the soil and aiding the maturity of the fruit during ripening.
Vines this age produce very low yields, giving the fruit a fantastic concentration of flavour, colour and varietal characteristics. After maturing for 18 months in two year old American oak barrels, the wine has a bright, rich, brick red colour with aromas of red fruits on the nose, followed by cherries and summer berries mixed with hints of vanilla and toast from the barrels on the palate, followed by silky tannins on the finish.
D&B GSM+C 13.5%
The D & B Cuvee Decadente GSM+C is a celebration of David & Boris’ 20 year plus friendship. We have used tiny parcels of some of the most interesting varieties from Boris’ own Domaine to blend this 2010 vintage red wine. Single grape selection delivers exceptional quality.
Our grapes were handpicked from some very old vines –the Carignan vines were planted over 100 years ago! The Domaine comprises only 11 hectares in total. The quality and intensity is due to picking at the grapes’ perfect phenolic maturity, enabling us to make wines in a very traditional way but with a modern, caring vision.
