Black Lagoon Reserve Carignan
Vines this age produce very low yields, hence the fruit has fantastic concentration of flavour, colour and varietal characteristics. Spending 18 months in 2 yr old American oak barrels the wine is a bright, rich, brick red colour with aromas of red fruits on the nose, cherries and summer berries are mixed with hints of vanilla and toast from the barrels. Followed in the mouth with intense berry fruits and firm but silky tannins on the finish. 13.5% ABV
From a special parcel of old bush vines, some 80-90 years old, just outside the village of Nezignan l’Eveque, Languedoc. Pudding stones, similar to those in the vineyards of Chateauneuf du Pape, create their own microclimate, warming the soil and aiding the maturity of the fruit during ripening.
